Navigating the Discourse on Islam and Hijabs
The same group of people who advocate against Christian girls part of fundamentalistic cults, but the conversation is different in the Islam context. Having to cover up to go to school and forced marriages are seen in the West as just simply part of their culture. However, women suffer violence and abuse all over the world and not just in the Middle East and regardless of their backgrounds, women and girls have no autonomy over their minds and bodies. Fear looms over them every day and they refuse to let the world know that they are disempowered.
Powerful media propaganda and power behind Shariah countries
There’s plenty of petrol dollars and political power behind Shariah countries and they don’t want the truth to come out. The media is a farce and will say whatever the powerful will ask them to say. Enter social media, where they cannot control what people post and where everyone has the right to speak their mind and trend their own hashtags to create awareness on political events. Iran is a powerful country with the 4th largest oil reserves on the planet and greatly influence even American politics.
Conflicting Ideas in Islam and Catholicism
There are less Christian fundamentalists versus mainstream, nominal Christians. However, the numbers for Muslims are the opposite and are more immersed in their written laws and systems. Yasmine believes that the only way for nations to progress and become more open is zero tolerance on racism, bigotry, and other values that go against basic human rights.
